Overview
Post–coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) supplement evidence is early and mixed. Vitamin A after surgery may shorten intensive care and hospital stays in some patients, particularly those with adequate zinc, based on three small studies.
N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) did not improve recovery or survival orally in one trial, though IV NAC lowered kidney injury markers without changing function in another. Selenium taken for four weeks preoperatively may improve metabolic and inflammatory markers in limited research. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below.
