Overview
Milk Thistle is the only supplement with data for chemotherapy-induced acral erythema, also called hand-foot syndrome, in this review. One early study applied a milk thistle gel twice daily from the start of capecitabine chemotherapy.
It is not clear from that single small trial whether this approach reduces severity or incidence compared with usual care alone. Evidence is too limited to draw firm conclusions about milk thistle for this chemotherapy side effect. See the evidence review below for protocol and outcome details.
