Postpartum depression

Supplements studied for postpartum depression.

Overview

Supplement research for postpartum depression is very limited, with only one study identified for Selenium. Observational data suggest that women with higher dietary selenium intake may have a slightly lower chance of postpartum depression, and one clinical trial reported symptom reduction with selenium supplements. However, it is not clear whether supplementation itself is helpful.

Overall evidence remains insufficient to support any supplement for this condition. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for details.
