Panic disorder
Supplements studied for panic disorder.
Overview
Inositol (WA 64; medium effect size, medium evidence, high trust) has medium-strength evidence for panic disorder from small clinical trials. High doses of 12–18 grams daily may reduce panic attack frequency and severity and lessen agoraphobia symptoms; one study found effects comparable to influenzavoxamine over one month with fewer side effects like nausea and tiredness.
These promising results come from small studies, and larger trials are needed to confirm inositol as a reliable option. Medium ratings reflect moderate but not definitive support.
