Supplements studied for photorefractive keratectomy (PRK).

Overview

L-Cysteine (WA 40; low effect size, evidence, and trust) and Vitamin A (WA 44; low effect size, low evidence, medium trust) have low-strength evidence related to PRK recovery. L-cysteine 100 mg twice daily for two weeks starting one week before surgery may speed corneal healing by about two days. Vitamin A with vitamin E may improve healing and vision after laser eye surgery; vitamin A alone has not been studied separately.
