Overview
Milk Thistle is the only supplement indexed for hyperlipoproteinaemia (1 study; WA 28; very low effect size, low evidence, low trust). Hyperlipoproteinaemia here refers to high blood fats related to liver disease, which was the population in the available trial.
In one small seven-month study, milk thistle did not improve cholesterol levels compared with placebo. With only a single low-rated negative trial, it is not clear whether milk thistle helps lower cholesterol in this setting. See the evidence review below.
