Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia

Overview

N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is the sole indexed supplement for hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (1 study; WA 40; low effect size, low evidence, low trust). HHT is characterized by recurrent nosebleeds, which was the main outcome in the available trial.

One small study found taking NAC three times daily for 12 weeks lowered daytime nosebleeds but did not affect nosebleeds at night. Because evidence comes from a single low-rated trial, it remains uncertain whether NAC helps with HHT-related bleeding. See the evidence review below for the trial summary.
