Bruxism

Supplements studied for bruxism.

Overview

Evidence for supplements in sleep-related bruxism is very limited. The only supplement with data in this review is L-Tryptophan, studied in a single very small trial among people with nighttime teeth grinding.

In that study, high-dose L-Tryptophan (50 mg/kg daily) taken for eight days did not reduce teeth grinding compared with placebo. This suggests L-Tryptophan alone is unlikely to help sleep-related bruxism based on current evidence. No other supplements are indexed for this condition here. See the evidence review below for trial details.
