SupplementDEX

Graves' disease

Supplements studied for graves' disease.

Overview

SupplementDEX tracks one supplement for Graves' disease: Vitamin D (WA 32; very low effect size, low evidence, medium trust; 1 study). In that trial, vitamin D at roughly 2800 IU daily for nine months was added to usual treatment for the condition and compared with no vitamin D supplementation.

Bone strength did not improve in the vitamin D group compared with those who did not receive supplements. With only a single low-rated study available, evidence for supplements in Graves' disease remains minimal. See the evidence review below for the full trial summary.
