A summary of six clinical trials (323 participants) found that drinking kefir lowered fasting blood sugar by about 10 points and reduced insulin levels, but did not improve long-term blood sugar control (measured by HbA1c).
Another analysis of six clinical trials (314 participants) looked at heart health and metabolism.
Kefir lowered insulin levels and improved insulin resistance but did not change cholesterol, blood sugar, body weight, or long-term blood sugar control.
