What is Nattokinase?

Nattokinase is an enzyme found in natto that exhibits fibrinolytic and cardioprotective activity.

Dosage

A typical dose of nattokinase is 100 mg or 2,000 fibrinolytic units (FU). Natto as food has been found to have anti-clotting effects at a dose of 12 g/day for 2 weeks.

Safety

Doses of up to 552 mg per day for up to 4 weeks have been safely used. In some adults with chronic health issues, nattokinase may cause a rare side effect of bleeding. The risk of allergic reactions from nattokinase is low, and comparable to the risk associated with soy products.
