Overview

What is a multivitamin?

A multivitamin is a supplement that contains a combination of minerals, vitamins or other ingredients. Multivitamins vary greatly in formulation type and ratios. There are no proven health benefits from either long-term or short-term multivitamin supplementation; however, multivitamins that contain nutrients in amounts not exceeding dietary reference intakes are likely safe for most people.
