Evidence Review

It is not clear if taking zeaxanthin during pregnancy helps improve a child’s vision.
Some studies show that greater zeaxanthin levels in mothers at birth relate to better vision at age 3 in their children.
However other research finds no link between eating zeaxanthin and lutein during pregnancy and vision in children aged 11 or 12.
The effects of supplements during pregnancy are unknown.
