Vasospastic angina

Supplements studied for vasospastic angina.

Overview

Magnesium is the only supplement studied for vasospastic angina, with one clinical trial. Intravenous magnesium given over about 20 minutes dilated the heart's arteries and helped prevent coronary artery spasms better than a sugar solution in people with this condition.

Magnesium carries medium effect-size, evidence, and trust ratings based on this single study. Whether oral magnesium offers similar benefit for preventing vasospastic angina is not established. See the heatmap and evidence review below for trial details.
