Wilson's Disease
Supplements studied for wilson's disease.
Overview
Zinc has the strongest supplement evidence for Wilson's disease, with high effect-size, evidence, and trust ratings across five studies. Zinc acetate (Galzin) is an FDA-approved treatment that works by blocking copper absorption and increasing copper removal through the stool. In small studies, taking zinc after eight weeks of tetrathiomolybdate treatment improved copper levels, eye ring symptoms, and nerve problems, with benefits lasting as long as six years.
Zinc is the established supplement treatment in this condition. See the heatmap and evidence reviews below for trial details across all five studies.
