Careers

Health practitioners trust us to make important decisions. Most of our work is reading primary literature, grading evidence, and shipping tools practitioners trust under time pressure. If that deeply interests you, read on.

Scientific Researcher

Type: Part-time / casual · remote-friendly · Australia preferred
Focus: Evidence appraisal for dietary supplements and clinical outcomes

The role

You will screen human clinical literature, extract study design and outcome data, and help maintain SupplementDEX ratings and evidence reviews. Accuracy matters more than speed — but you will need both.

Minimum requirements

  • Currently studying (or recently completed) a science / STEM degree (e.g. biomedical science, medicine, pharmacy, nutrition & dietetics, physiology, mathematics, statistics, or adjacent)
  • Academic standing of 80+ WAM, or equivalent GPA (typically ~3.5/4.0 or Distinction average)
  • Comfortable reading full-text RCTs, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses without hand-holding
  • Fluent written English suitable for clinical-facing summaries

Nice to have

  • WAM 85+ (or ~3.7+/4.0) in quantitative or biomedical coursework
  • Prior research experience: Honours thesis, lab project, systematic review contribution, or published / preprint work
  • Can critique risk of bias (randomisation, blinding, attrition, outcome switching) and spot when a “positive” abstract oversells the data
  • Familiar with PubMed, Cochrane, CONSORT, and basic biostatistics (effect sizes, CIs, heterogeneity)
  • Obsessive about citations, units, and not inventing certainty the literature does not support

You will not be a fit if

  • You mainly want to write marketing copy or “wellness” content
  • You cannot defend a grading decision with the underlying papers in front of you

How to apply

Email support@supplementdex.com with:

  1. CV / transcript (unofficial is fine)
  2. Your current WAM or GPA (and scale)
  3. A short note (≤250 words) on one paper you think is overrated or underrated — and why

We read every serious application. We do not reply to mass templates.
